My iPod Nano Sidekick
Product Review, Progress March 20th, 2006Today was my first day running with the Nano. I must admit, the Nano is worth buying. When I did my 20 minutes on the treadmill today it didn’t feel like my brain was turning into mush because I had music. With the music in my ears I was bouncing along at a nice 6 mph (I normally do 5 mph) for a good 15 minutes until my left ankle started hurting. It seemed like the pain made my entire body more tired from the running. However, I don’t like to give up so I kept running but at the end of my run I could barely walk because that ankle was so sore.
After some stretching I moved to the cycling machine and did 20 minutes while maintaining my heart rate at around 160. Oh I love the cycling machine, no pain at all in any joints except for the burning sensation in your quadraceps. With my “workout” playlist I think I could’ve easily gone for another 10 minutes on that.
So overall, the iPod Nano is a great sidekick if you absolutely hate cardio. I do have one negative comment towards the iPod, and that is that the iTunes software absoultely sucks. I consider myself quite computer-literate since I’ve been using PCs forever, but I have such difficulty navigating and customizing the iTunes software. I couldn’t tell you what I was doing with the software if my life depended on it, I just clicked around and prayed that all the music transfers into my Nano. Maybe Apple deliberately makes it hard for people to use iTunes if they don’t buy from their music store.

it’s pretty cool that you’re taking this fitness program thing seriously. I’ve been slacking quite a bit, but my consistency has just begun. see ya xing qi san?

I crushed my nano’s LED while lifting. Now I can only see the bottom half of the screen. Which is just enough to select “shuffle songs” Yup, I totally downgraded it into an ipod shuffle.

2 questions: how much is Apple paying you, and how long before the novelty wears off?
