Can drinking more water really help me lose weight?
Dieting September 5th, 2006Definitely. You need every drop of water you can get in order to help regulate your body temperature and ensure the proper transport of nutrients and oxygen to your cells. Skimp on the amount you take in, and you increase your risk for muscle and joint injuries and impair your brain’s ability to function.
Recently National Academy of Sciences guidelines recommend men drink at least 13 cups of water a day. Fortunately, milk, reduced-calorie juice, tea, and diet soda do count in helping you reach that total. Since symptoms of dehydration can include fatigue, headaches, and muscle cramping (the same symptoms you may experience when hungry) it’s even more important for active guys to stay hudrated. Aim for at least a cup of some low-calorie liquid every hour. Succeed and you may find you don’t crave all that junk you’ve been eating.
