Man runs longer and harder than you (and he’s 101 years old)

This story is just amazing. 101 year-old man training for the marathon. Buster has already done a half marathon before and now he’s planning on becoming the world’s oldest man to run a full marathon. The next time you’re at work or home and you’re feeling a little lazy about getting to the gym, think about Buster the 101 year-old marathon runner who drinks beer, smokes cigarettes, and can run longer than you! Sure inspires me to get off my ass.

Nintendo Wii Fit is coming

Exercises, Media Watch, Videos 1 Comment »

I’m a big fan of the Nintendo Wii, not only because I can break a sweat playing it but the games are tons of fun for group activities. Nintendo has announced Wii Fit, a new game coming out that takes advantage of a balance board technology and helps you get in shape. This balance board is sensitive to weight shifting and can even measure your body mass index. Some of the activities you can do in this new game include: yoga, push ups, step aerobics, hula hooping and more. No clue how much this new game will cost or when it will be released. One thing for sure is that Nintendo’s really reaching out to a new group of gamers.

kobayashi_fairwell_2007.jpgTakeru Kobayashi, the six-time hot dog eating world champion from Nagano, Japan was finally defeated this 4th of July.  Joey Chestnut is the first American to win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating since 1999 and to bring back the Mustard Yellow Belt.  The final score was a close 66 to 63, Chestnut.

Hot dog eating contests are just incredible.  Can you imagine eating 12 hot dogs and buns for dinner?  I think I’d explode.  Yet these “professional athletes” can eat over 60 dogs in 12 minutes!  I’ve always admired people who can eat more than me, especially those that are able to stay in shape.  Even though Kobayashi lost this year, he’s still my hero because of his perfect six pack.

The 300 Spartan Workout

Media Watch, Videos 2 Comments »

I saw the movie 300 over the weekend and my jaws dropped when I saw that all the Spartans actors had 8-packs. These guys didn’t have the bodybuilder physiques but instead had the type of physique forged from numerous battles and hacking their enemies in half.

Here’s a behind the scenes video on how these guys worked out for 6 months for this movie. They prevented their body from adapting to the workout routines by never doing the same workout twice.
