It’s been over a year now since I last checked in with the weight loss and losing the belly. Thought now would be a good time to check-in and evaluate my progress. It’s not easy losing the belly!
Last weigh-in was 6/3 and I had lost about 15 lbs since the initial weigh-in. Not too bad. Since June 2012, I have lost another 5lbs and the belly doesn’t look as extended. Belly fat, particularly the kind I was carrying (up near the heart) is never any good.
So, here’s the pics. The before (taken 3/12) I weighed in at about 240 and the one on the right, I weighed in at just under 220. Good weight loss, but I need to keep working and doing better.
Here’s some things I’ve been doing this past year that have really helped shed some pounds
- Started walking. Exercise was pretty lacking in my regime. So, I’ve been walking about 2-3x a week and getting the heart beat up there. I have a desk job, so that has also contributed to the weight gain.
- Eating better. As I mentioned before I have been eating a lot of organic foods, eating out less, eating a lot less dairy (actually made the switch from animal milk to rice milk) and eating less meat. I’m not totally going well – as I still eat out about once-a week at the fast food joints.
- De-stressing. I think a lot of our weight-gain can be related to being too stressed out. I have tried to take time out, deep breaths during the day, pray and not taken on so much at work and outside of work.
- Taking supplements. Some things I have been lacking, I’ve been trying to get in the pill form. Like Omega-3s (EFAs) and also some Vitamin D.
What are some things you are doing to lose the pounds and get rid of that belly?
